High Fashion Extreme Contouring and Highlighting

This type of contouring and Highlighting is definitely not for everyday wear but suitable for high fashion photography. This method helps to exaggerate the features on the face. We shown a demo by Kat on where to apply the Highlight and contour.

As you can see from the demo all the parts with white foundation is the highlight - which is the top of the cheek bones, jawline, chin, nose and forehead. The areas that are contoured are under the cheek bone, sides of the nose, temples, under the jawline and a little under the bottom lip.

Step by Step
  • Apply a primer to give an even canvas
  • Squeeze white foundation onto a stainless steel palette.
  • Use a foundation brush and place down the white foundation in the areas that need to be highlighted - make sure all edges are blended as we want the contour to blend seamlessly.
  • Use can either use a cream contour first before the contour or go straight in with a powder eye shadow.
  • Use a small dense brush to start contouring under the cheek bones - start with a light shade of contour and gradually build with darker shadows.
  • Use a large fluffy brush to buff and blend the contour so it's seamless.
  • Again use a small brush to contour the nose, making sure to blend downwards and to build with product. Do the same for under the bottom lip.
  • For under the Jawline again use a large fluffy brush to buff the contour colour.
  • Use a powder to set the face this will prevent any of the make up from moving about on the skin.

My Attempt

For my first attempt I found it hard as I found my face doesn't have a lot of structure, I found the highlighting easier than the contouring as I found it hard to build with the contour. I'm going to continue to practice as I think this look would be amazing for some of my future looks.
