Cleansing, Toning and Moistursing

Before we apply any make up to our Model's face we have to get the perfect base, in order to do this we cleanse, tone and moisturise the face. This will then make the products we apply to the skin to have a smoother finish and to lay on the skin easier. However before we do this we must remove any existing make up on the skin.

Preparing your Surface
  • Place a sheet of couch paper onto your work surface in order to keep it clean and tidy - this will also make it easier to pick any used cotton pads.
  • Have cotton pads and cu-tips ready to be used
Preparing your Model
  • Clip any hair away from the face - in order to not get product in the model's hair.
  • Put a wrap or towel around your models shoulders so not to dirty they're clothes with product fall out.
  • Before you start with the make up you must wash hands but make sure the model is aware you are doing so.
Cleansing
  • Pump cleanser onto a couple of  clean cotton pads
  • Start by placing one cotton pad in each hand and starting at the chin use upward motions to remove any make up - continue in upward motions all around the face making sure to avoid touch the hair.
  • In order to remove mascara or eyeliner from the eyes, place a pump of cleanser onto the back of your hand. Use the cu-tip to get to the hard to reach areas round the eyes - if eyeliner or mascara is hard to remove as the model to remove the make up.
  • Any used cu-tips or cotton pads must be put into the bin straight away.

Toning
  • Place toner onto a couple of cotton pads and repeat the same process on the model's face - this will remove any make up that wasn't removed in the first step.
Moisturising
  • Squeeze a pea size amount of moisturiser onto your hand, rub into your hand.
  • Start by massaging this into your model's skin again using upward motions - try to be gently this should be a very relaxing and calming experience.
Before
After

However after close inspection you can still see I didn't manage to get all of my Model's eyeliner/mascara off. But for my first attempt I think I did pretty good as she had a full face of make up on.
My Model told me she enjoyed the experience and I personally really enjoyed it. But next I need to improve in getting every last bit of mascara/eyeliner off using a cu-tip and cleanser.
