Contemporary Elizabethan Makeup and Blocked out Eyebrows
Step by Step
- Firstly apply Illamasqua matte primer for an even base
- Apply Illamasqua skin base foundation in white all over the face.
- Set foundation with Illamasqua translucent loose powder.
- Apply either foundation or an eye shadow base all over the eyelids to prevent any creasing.
- Apply a generous amount of loose powder under the eye to catch any fallout from the eye shadows.
- Using a small eye shadow brush apply the gold shade (Vintage) in the Illamasqua Neutral Palette apply this all over the eyelid.
- Using the darker eye shadow (Obsidian) contour the top of the nose bridge and slightly in the crease and under the lower eyelashes.
- Using the matte black (Wolf) contour the crease and apply on the outer part of the eyelid.
- Using the highlight shade in the Illamasqua Sculpting powder duo (Lumos) place under the blocked out eyebrow.
- Contour the cheekbones with a dark shade in the Illamasqua eye shadow quad and with a touch of the black for a really sculpted look.
- On the lips apply the dark berry shade in the Kryolan lipstick Palette.
Self Reflection
In today's lesson we were given an option out of two photos of Contemporary Elizabethan Makeup I decided to create the makeup in the photo above. I firstly started off by blocking out my models eyebrows using the glue stick technique, I tried my hardest to correct any mistakes I'd made in my first attempt however I wasn't that pleased with how it worked the second time (need practice a little more) I then went on to covering my models face with white foundation as in the photo above her complexion is very pale. After I'd done that I went on to the eye Shadow, I really enjoyed this part as I got to use products in my kit I'd never used before. I was extremely happy with how the eye makeup came out and I think I did a pretty good job at getting like the makeup in the photo. Once the eye makeup was done I went on to contouring my models cheekbones, I used a dark brown with a little black eye shadow as from the photo it looked very dark and sculpted. I found applying the lip colour onto her lips slightly tricky however I think I got the colour on point. Overall I am pretty happy with this look, I just need to make sure to practice blocking out eyebrows as I this is going to be a big part of my final look for my 'New Elizabethan' look.
